Russian Boy “I got 40/50!”
Me “Oh my gosh! Fantastic!”
Me sensing his anticipation “Fine, what do you want?”
RB without a doubt “Cake Napoleon!”
Whips out laptop & shows me one on Google Images (we were doing an online tutorial then)
RB super excited “This one ok! This one! It’s my favourite cake from Russia!”
2 weeks after (Google & FB were not much help this time)…
It looks slightly damaged I know, he nearly toppled it while removing from the plastic wrap- overly happy/hungry.
Here he is again trying to be cute. Haha
Cake Napoleon (as RB calls it) or Napoleon or Mille Feuille (meaning thousand leave) is a French pastry & traditionally has 3 layers of puff pastry, each topped with stupendous fillings of cream (custurd/strawberry/chocolate/pumpkin etc whichever way you like it). This layering, they call it Napoleon. It’s also a pave cake, where it’s shaped like a shoe box, or brick. The top is usually looks white & brown- glazed with icing & chocolate strips.
Ready for a feast?
& his verdict?
“This is not Napoleon at all!! I want real one! Can you PLEASE! bake for me, please?! You’ve oven right?” & so I promised him that if he passes his next review, I shall!
If you scroll up, the one I bought him looks really tragic. But of course, part of it comes from my bad shot, pardon me.
