Food Of The Day: Durian Buffet @ Goodwood Park Hotel Review

That is what makes my Best Fab Friend (not Big Fat Face ok, Nic) swell!
As usual, a broken GPS + me = lost. This time made worse when Nic is in the driver’s seat. Oh well, not that I’m complaining about the consequences of guessing roads to take plusplusplus it’s not my fuel! Haha!
Aside, we were both anticipating the Durian Buffet @ Goodwood raved by so many. Made a last minute reservation which BTW, they told us it’s fully booked & we’re on waiting list but we still went anyway & found out that it was only a third full. ‘What on earth?!’ we thought but we slowly learnt why there wasn’t a crowd.
Durian puff
Using a light choux puff, it resembles that of an eclair’s but wrapped with creamy durian pulp. We both found it a tad too sweet. Don’t mistake me, I’ve a sweet tooth but I don’t really agree on sweetening the natural flavour of the durian. I’m guessing here that they’re trying to please the masses, if not expats.
Durian pancake
Warm & freshly made at the live station, this is a should try but I shan’t say more other than the light soft crepe because I don’t remember anything else. & this is not a good thing.
A random tart
This random tart serves its purpose- being random. I don’t recall any durian flavour. Just nice crust & bad filling that’s all.
Coffee mouse cake
Weird, eh? Maybe they created this to prevent customers from falling asleep over their lack of choices. I’m not a big fan of walnuts but thank god for them in the crust.
A shot of ugh
Topped with fruits, this shot is nowhere near delightful. Expect to be awake with shock, & drips. Repulsive.

Oh good, finally. This is good.
Hazelnut cake
I shall write what it’s worth & I’ll skip this.
Oreo cake
This should NOT be served. I’m very upset that I’d to eat this. They should have at least kept it in the freezer if the room temperature isn’t enough to keep the cake a solid matter. Sheesh.
Bread & butter pudding
Not too bad but have tasted better ones.
Ice cream
Nic scooped these & sprinkled some almonds. I think I got kind of negative after all the tastings-gone-wrong that apart of knowing that it’s caramel (I didn’t try the other one), I’ve no better way to describe this.
You know it’s funny that my descriptions are only a liner short for considering I just came back from the buffet. I don’t know what happened to Durian strudel, Durian & crunchy hazelnut tartlet, Durian crepe, Durian waffer, Durian eclair, Durianmisu but I may have visited the Durian Buffet the wrong year, if not the wrong month, if not a horribly wrong day. OR that the other online reviewers have a different standard from me. It may be nice to just order a box of takeaway but being a buffet with the kind of spread offered, we both agreed that it’s a letdown.
Thinking back now, if not rushing off for Nic’s savoury cravings, we should’ve settled the bill in a different way than we did.

oh i cn see it now. ur photos nt bad. haha. maybe e oreo thing was solid but u took too long t get a pic of it.? haha. kidding. cedele lei.!
hahahah no! the entire oreo cake was left on the buffet spread you know. hmmm i won’t recommend you to try! the durian desserts are not too bad just a lil sweet for me but the thing is, their other desserts are nowhere near an esteemed hotel’s standards! in fact, you wouldn’t even want to take a second bite /:
that’s why it’s not even packed. if you’re really dying to try, you should call them up to confirm what they’ve. cause there were a few items missing from what they’d previously.

i only read the drinks menu cause my friend said the ala carte had very bad options like char kuay teow, fried rice etc things that you can buy in hawker centre & may be better. hahaha
its a buffet right? means you can take as many as you want or just 1 piece each? :/
