Thank You Hong Kong!
This is part of a 5-part article series on my trip to HK.
I went to Hong Kong with frivolous dreams of shopping in bustling markets teeming with affordable gifts for myself, looking for good bargains in all the right places. & so I did. I envisioned finding that perfect dress or a piece of cheap jewelry which doesn’t look so cheap afterall, the one that elicits squeals from girlfriends ”I love your hair clip! Where did you get it?” at this point I’d reply, “HK (or even better, some exotic hard to find street in HK which I’m lucky enough to find)”.
A trained ear will be able to detect a hint of smugness, but tempered with a sincere & humble smile, no admirer would notice. Ok, I’m really kidding about the smugness, haha! There’d be 99% sincerity + excitement & 1% smugness (which stems from owning a piece different from the rest of Singapore).
We were in HK for Spring/Summer (19 May – 24 May) & here are some pieces that we bought. Not a lot I know, but we shot these at 2am. So pardon the simple combinations after a tremendous load of all-day speed-shopping, late night eating & Baby J’s ‘lost’ phone saga that made us cancel our plans to Beijing Club @ Lan Kwai Fong 蘭桂坊 which I must remember to check out the next time I visit.
In case you’re wondering if budget shopping in HK is possible, it’s a YES!
