Road To Glowing Complexion: My Soy Start
What’s your morning cuppa? A cup of steamy aromatic coffee? A glass of chilled milk? Freshly-squeezed orange juice (yea right, I doubt you really have that time)?
I remember the dismay when I was a kid & my mom passed me milk bottle. Actually, there weren’t many instances as I’d fight as much as possible to not drink it. I was an even pickier eater last time, for a different reason (attention-seeking then). Cow milk tasted & smelt like well honestly, dung. Right? Does anyone else think the same? The stench was a turn off & I didn’t enjoy drinking it. So after a while, my mom gave up. She didn’t believe in cow’s milk either, so after a while when I was older, she got fresh goat’s milk delivered to our doorstep.
Supposedly healthier than cow’s milk, but funnily the goat’s milk was even more funky smelling. It was like a goat packed inside that bottle man! If you’ve visited a goats’ farm, you’d know what I mean. It was pretty horrid, I tried a few brainless gulps but well, most of it went into my parents’ digestive systems. So after a while, they discontinued the delivery.
& now as an adult, I see students, working people grab a cup of soya milk (for the many health benefits, continue reading). I see them drinking it in the morning while waiting for their buses, queue up after lunch hours for it, bag one pancake together with it during tea time from the famous Mr Bean. & I didn’t like how it taste, but how much could I expect from a commercial soymilk brand? I know the beany flavour is well-accepted by most Chinese. So I must be the exception because to me it was flat like paper, very synthetic too. The ones at hawker centres where they are handmade are better though, but I admit, I wasn’t a fan of soy still.
Till now! Till Silk®.
I’d my first mouthful of Silk® Soymilk in Chocolate ($5.80 for 1.82kg) with my favourite cereal & boy, was I pleasantly surprised! The beany soy taste was very very light, it was almost like chocolate milk, only lighter, smoother, less sweet. I loved it! I say this is perfect for anyone who wants to take his first step to drinking soymilk. & I found this line on Silk® official website: “One sip, and we bet you’ll agree.” How true! There are other flavours available like Plain, Unsweetened, or Vanilla (at Essential Living & selected supermarkets/health stores) & there are many more people who swears by Silk Soymilk:
I have been drinking soymilk for years, but only recently did I experience the quality difference of Silk.Silk is awesome! —Robert
